  • Who copied who? Evaluating vs. Dedalus ★★★★★
On first glance this is just about how Dedalus is set up, with maybe a 5% difference. Not exaggerating. I hope to get some different effects out of this one - the drag and drop looks good - but otherwise I'm going to be steamed having spent $6 twice on basically the same thing. I will say this one has better regard for your ears - Dedalus somehow has a way to fry your ears even at 25% volume while sorting through presets. While sorting through apeDelay I even found shared "Red Sky Lullaby" presets. It seems Dedalus is geared more to outright sonic madness, while ApeDelay looks best for smooth music production. One thing that truly annoys me in ApeDelay: every time you change the preset, you lose your loaded sample! Looked in settings but nothing.

  • Powerful Creative Delay ★★★★★
The app really lets you add all sorts of delay effects that your generic delay effect can not. If you enjoy experimenting with sound design, this is a great tool to work with.

  • Wait-Worthy ★★★★★
It has arrived! I’ve been eager to get a chance to use this since the first teaser/preview back in February. I’m happy to report that it has exceeded my expectations. Easily among the best spectral/STFT implementations around (not just iOS… on ANY platform). I quite like the ‘drag-and-drop’ method of parameter manipulation - and am very pleased by the new sampler features (crop/loop - easier importing etc). Highly recommended!

apeDelay - spectral Delay implements up to 2048 delay lines with feedback or up to 2048 Brick-wall filters. The algorithm is based on the STFT (i.e. Short Time Fourier Transform) analysis/re-synthesis. The audio signal is converted in abstract ‘Frequency Domain’, where is manipulated and transformed back again in ‘Time Domain’. You can draw the Time and Feedback shapes for both stereo channels. This is achieved from the multi sliders, who provide a great tool to manage the huge numbers of parameters. You can also benefit of more advanced spectral manipulations like the Spectral Blur, Granulate, Bins Decimator, Noise Gate, Spectral Freeze and Brick-wall filters. + AudioUnit V3 (FX) + Inter-App Audio (FX) + Audiobus (Full) + Ableton Link + Audio Interface support + Microphone input + Built In Stereo Sampler with varispeed and scrubbing + Control Manager LFO for all the Parameters + Midibus, Virtual Midi and Network: 14 bit NRPN controllers + Sample Manager, sharing common audio files via iTunes, Dropbox and AudioCopy + Snapshots Presets Morphing Pad + Post Fx: Stereo Delay, Amazing ClassicVerb Low/Hi Shelving and Dynamic Processor + etc...
